a repetition of uprights and shelves, decreasing in depth towards the right or left and also upwards, the volume of this shelving unit appears to reduce as if disappearing towards the ceiling. this effect creates a range of unexpected, interesting storage possibilities.
biplan is a small wooden occasional shelf. its minimal depth enables it to accommodate books and collections of objects. inspired by the metal structures of industrial buildings, the uprights with their triangular wooden profiles suggest a play on construction and interconnection. light and elegant, the shelf with its two suspended surfaces seems to float in mid air. wall shelf with structure in natural varnished solid european walnut and shelves in satin-finish silk grey lacquered mdf.
launched in 2009 and comprehensively augmented in 2016 and 2017 in terms of both functionality and variety of finishes, book&look now offers a number of innovations for 2019 which increase both its real and perceived quality and will further expand its possibilities. these innovations encompass the opening system for the doors, the addition of a niche in chests (living room items and sideboards), a new shelving unit, and more generally a significant expansion of the choice of finishes.
an elegant modular range combining lacquer with solid wood. note the quality of finish as embodied by the dark walnut lip which serves as a handle for the doors. it responds perfectly to contemporary requirements of a modular system, offering solutions for hi-fi and storage, plus shelving and a sideboard.
numéro111 and michel decided to develop the clyde range, taking as a starting point its essential characteristics – the brass-coated or black lacquered steel structure with its v-shaped supports and the way in which the tops are superposed. and so two new pieces were born: a bookcase and a multi-use low unit (low bookcase, low open sideboard, TV,...).
when stacked, chests are held in place by their own weight (13kg) and steadied by small non-slip transparent rubber feet located between each chest. it is also possible to play with colour by mixing the 5 finishes on offer. modules are made from satin lacquered mdf.
the shelving unit, at h189cm the same height as the storage column, has shelves in a choice of 18 finishes: grey smoked glass, walnut veneer, satin white/argile/perle lacquer, plus the 13 'to-order' lacquer colours (rouge, bleu, bleu lavande, chocolat, mastic, noir, azur, brique, éléphant, moutarde, ranger, plomb and bleu nuit).
if it might be reminiscent of certain metal modular office systems, dita draws a clear distinction with its lacquered panels which are made of wood rather than sheet metal and by its discreet streamlined uprights with their sophisticated finish. each module is equipped with a handle matched to the uprights of the structure. the uprights are in 15 x 15mm aluminium profiles in an anodised brushed bronze finish.
et cetera is a vertically-constructed programme (assemblies of side panels, shelves, back panels and fronts). basically a range of shelving, it is further enriched by the additional functions of an occasional unit: storage (opaque or glass doors, shelves, drawers), audiovisual equipment and lighting.
this shelving system can be used on its own or juxtaposed with additional units. can be used with or without the chest, which is always finished in walnut veneer. the shelving is available in various lacquer finishes. the stem and handles are always in bronze lacquer.

it was during the 2020 spring lockdown that benjamin graindroge resumed his project initiated at the villa kujoyama a few years earlier. the tranquility of this french artistic establishment based in mount higashi in kyoto provides all the ingredients to encourage creation with a link to japan. from the first discovery of the kujoyama bookcase, we find immediately this reassuring feeling of a controlled calm thanks to the severity of subtly dosed proportions between the different elements.
